THE LEGEND OF 'TITANO BOA';
The largest snake ever discovered was a "Titano boa", it lived 60 million years ago and would have measured 15m (50ft).
Titano boa, is an extinct genus of snakes that is known to have lived in present-day La Guajira in northern Colombia.
Fossils of Titano boa have been found in the Gerrejon formation, and to around 58 to 60 million years ago.
The giant snake lived during the Middle to Late Paleocene epoch, a 10-million-year period immediately following the Cretaceous-Paleocene extinction event.
The only species is Titano boa Cerrejonensis, the longest snake ever discovered, which supplanted the previous record holder, Gigantophis....
Researchers estimated that the largest individuals of T.Cerrejonensis found had a total length around 12.8m (42ft) and weighted about 1,135kg (2,500lb ; 1.12 long tons ; 1.25 short tons).
